7:30 p.m.: How to be an LGBTQ Ally
Ahead of Pride Month this June, join us to learn more about current state and federal laws and protections, and hear from Scott Petersen from Pride for Youth, and other community members who will share their own experiences, challenges, and suggestions for how we can help amplify the voices of the LGBTQI community.
During the Meet and Greet time from 6:30 to 7:00 the Unity and Diversity Committee invites you to participate in our latest project, STORY MATTERS as a means of getting to know each other. Bring a photo or small object of something that reminds you of a moment in your life. Be part of one of our small storytelling groups and take 2 to 5 minutes to share your story. Tell a story or just come to listen!

Nassau County, NY Plastic Bag Update
A fee for check out bags bill was proposed by Nassau County Legislator, Debra Mule (D). It is very similar to the Suffolk, Long Beach and Sea Cliff, NY bills. The Presiding Officer of the Nassau County Legislature is reluctant to put this bill up for a vote–call your Nassau County legislator and Presiding Officer Richard Nicolello (516-571-6209) to raise your voice about this important issue!
