Nassau County Plastic Bag Bill Update

A fee-for-check-out-bags bill was proposed by Nassau County Legislator, Debra Mule (D). It is very similar to the Suffolk County, Long Beach and Sea Cliff bills and is a critical step for our county in controlling plastic pollution and limiting our impact on the environment.

The Presiding Officer of the Legislature, Richard Nicollelo, will decide whether this bill is put up for a vote, and is reluctant to do so. Please call him at (516) 571-6209 and tell him that you are in favor of a fee–for-check-out-bags law in Nassau County and that you want him to allow Legislator Mule’s bill to be put to a vote. He needs to hear from as many Nassau residents as possible!

In addition, we ask you to please attend the County Legislature meeting on Wednesday, 5/23 at 1PM to show support and to speak in favor of this bill.

Finally, please contact your own Nassau County legislators to let them know you support this bill.
