Sign the Petition: End Gerrymandering Now

Pass the Redistricting Reform Act and set up independent commissions to draw fair maps and put the people in charge, not politicians.

Voters should choose politicians — not the other way around.

But extreme partisan gerrymandering lets political insiders and party bosses draw district lines that box out their competition and protect their own power. Gerrymandering robs voters of their right to a meaningful choice at the polls, and weakens our democracy.

We must stop this kind of political manipulation for good. The Redistricting Reform Act would count all Americans and put the people back in charge by setting up independent commissions that prioritize inclusive public participation, fair representation, and transparency when drawing maps.

Tell your lawmakers — support this important bill and end gerrymandering now!

RVUSA Response to Florida’s School Shooting and What to Do Next

After yet another senseless shooting, we at Raising Voices are turning our anger and pain into action. Thoughts and prayers are not enough – they never were. The innocent lives lost at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, were not the first, and sadly, will not be the last. It’s time to force our legislators to act – we’re failing our children and ourselves.

Weekly Action Update – October 18, 2017

Are you ready for Election Day on November 7?

Participation in local elections is crucial. Our county- and town-level officials make decisions that affect our everyday lives, yet voter turnout, especially in New York State, is historically low for local elections. RaisingVoicesUSA wants to change that trend.

We encourage you to use the opportunities and resources below to find a pathway for getting involved in the upcoming elections.

Thoughts and Prayers and N.R.A Funding

From THE NEW YORK TIMES
By DAVID LEONHARDT, IAN PRASAD PHILBRICK and STUART A. THOMPSONOCT. 4, 2017

Most Americans support stronger gun laws — laws that would reduce deaths. But Republicans in Congress stand in the way. They fear alienating their primary voters and the National Rifle Association.

Below are the top 10 career recipients of N.R.A. funding – through donations or spending to benefit the candidate – among both current House and Senate members, along with their statements about the Las Vegas massacre. These representatives have a lot to say about it. All the while, they refuse to do anything to avoid the next massacre.
